Event Rules

The convention is not going to be rule heavy or fascist, we are all going to the con to have fun, and these guidelines will help everyone do just that.

Please take a moment to read these rules carefully. For serious offenses Fields of Honor reserves the right to eject, without warning, any attendee who breaks these rules.

  1. Wear your convention badge at all times. The staff will not allow you entrance to the convention without it. You may not play in an event unless you have on your name badge.
  2. If you are running an event, you must verify every gamer is wearing their name badge.
  3. Verbal or physical abuse of fellow gamers, judges, vendors, or staff will not tolerated.
  4. No refunds will be given.
  5. Underage drinking is not allowed. The drinking age in Iowa is 21. Smoking is allowed only in designated hotel areas. The smoking age in Iowa is 18.
  6. No weapons, real or props, are allowed at the convention. Costumes are welcome, so long as they don’t include weaponry.
  7. Fields of Honor is a family convention, please keep this in mind and use discretion in your choice of costumes and games.
  8. “Lost and Found” is located at the Registration Table. Fields of Honor and the hotel are not responsible for any lost or stolen property.
  9. Reminder: We’re all here to have fun. Use common courtesy, and leave your gaming area clean when finished gaming.

Children and the Convention
The convention is fairly kid friendly, children 12 and over will find a variety of games to play and will be quite welcome to participate in most activities. Some games, however, are simply not suitable for younger players. In an effort to make things easier for the parents bringing their kids to the convention we are implementing some optional guidelines that referees can attach to their games to indicate who should be playing. When a game is created the referee will be able to tell us what age group they would like to have participate in their game. This rating will consist of a number and a plus sign, very simple, right? So if a game is rated 18+, it means the referee would only like to have participants 18 or older play his or her game. Some referees may have contingencies for other age groups, please read the description of the game for more information. And yes it could work both ways. They may be games with a '12-' (or an age range) indicating that no one over 12 need show up. The Kid's Con will be back for second year in 2007 and we would hate for too many old grognards to get in the way of their fun.
Please remember that children younger than 12 need to have a parent or guardian on the premises in case of emergencies at all times. The Kid's Con takes place in the main game room close to the bathrooms with clear visibility to most parents should your child need you. In the event that you will be upstairs in the role playing rooms or out of the main gaming area, please let one of the responsible adults know where your child can get ahold of you should they need to do so.

Pre-registered means prepaid
If you pre-register, payment must be received by the pre-payment date for the event or you will have to pay the 'at the door price' for your badge. Payment can only be made to Fields of honor this year, no one else is authorized to sell badges in advance. Please see the Registration Page for more details.
